Bike Commute
Got to shoot this cool little story on this woman who rides eight blocks to work on a cool old retro bike. She was just trying to be health concious and try and use less gasoline for a relativley short trip. It even takes her about the same time to get to work by bike as it did by car.
Stay tuned I might be able to do something incredibly cool on Friday and put it in the paper/web. Here’s to hoping I’m able to ride to work and work via bike on National Bike to Work Day. Lets just hope I don’t have to cover a fire while dancing on LOOK pedal cleats.
Welcome to stampy town, population forty two

Anniston Lions Run for Sight
Well I guess I PRd according the garmin at 22:46 though I think the clock said 22:50 Either way that’s an organized outside run PR for me. The course was kind of hilly towards the beginng but we had a nice downhill and flat in the end. I even managed to run with a decent kick at the end-but not too much of a kick.
My splits weren’t negative at a 7:12, +0.10, +0.20 but respetably even. I didn’t make my goal time of 21 flat but I don’t feel too bad about the race.
I won an age group medal-1st but I think at least one of the overall winners was from my age group. The overalls get pulled from contention in the age group categories but- we won’t talk about that.
Good race, great day and found a bunch of people from Ohio by wearing the kelly green OU shirt.
One las thing, I am beginning to remember how hot it gets in the summer here. It won’t be pretty.

So Cyndi and I both walk out to the newsroom situation desk ( a former reporter’s desk that is near the city and county radios and has a networked computer) notebooks in hand and pens poised to take notes. We both had heard the unmistakable sounds of a cop embarking on a foot chase-the gasping for air and calling out of descriptions. We sit down and take notes and try to follow the typically disjointed conversation that takes place as various officers call in and join in on the call.
Well we were trying to hone in on a precise location and we hear an officer call out several possible streets where the alleged perp had gone and we heard “Valley Joe” We looked at each other quizzically as we hadn’t heard of that street before. After another few calls we found the location on the E-911 map. I wondered aloud. ” Where is “Valley Joe” Cyndi replied ” Well it can’t be Vallejo could it?” Surely not we concurred but sure enough, as I looked at the map we found that Gadsden’s finest had indeed used a creative pronunciation of the street name. Laughing ensued
As funny as this is to me, I really shouldn’t be surprised. this is the town where the big deal Tex Mex establishment is know and Vill-uh , “vill rhymes with pill”
