everyone huddled around the TV. A live twister on TV is so hard to resist watching.

We have had some weather all day. The second band is getting ready to hit any minute, I’ve got my lappy/mifi charging. I just wish we could pause for a minute, so we could catch up. A break doesn’t seem to be in the queue, better get back to the newsgathering.

One of those days

I don’t do this often, but I had to break out the emergency Rock Star from my file cabinet.
Today started out crazy, and I think it’s going to stay crazy for awhile.

Trees Gone

We had trees, then we had them taken away. We are happy now. Farewell danger pines. I suppose it’s our little contribution to fewer pinecones, less pollen and a decreased likelihood of severe weather tree smashing shenanigans.

Now to get those darn stumps removed….

Trip Part 1: The Drive

the drive 14

So we drove all the way to Kansas. I saw we, because Carol started out driving us on the washboard-esque wagon pike that is I-59 north of Gadsden.
We swapped over in 3 or four hour shifts. I swear I didn’t do this so she would get St. Louis.

You can tell that she was driving through St. Louis by the photo. I was taking photos of the Arch or as Mrs. Fleegan put it, The Thomas Jefferson Gateway to the West! which I have seen tons of times, but for some reason felt like it was important to get another six photos of — instead of coaxing information from my ancient GPS.

We made it through on our road Northwestward and arrived in Kansas ity in time for me to be a cheapskate nostalgic, ditch the Kansas Turnpike and the $2.50 toll and take U.S. Highway 40 through the countryside and show C a little bit of Lawrence and the outskirts of Topeka.

We made it into Topeka just as it got dark and roughly an hour after the GPS said we would. Leg 1 accomplished. ( I bet that was so exciting you can’t wait for part deux.)

I’m back

I’m back from a whirlwind trip to Kansas for my Brother’s wedding. I’ll be trying to post photos shortly. Sorry for the delay in all that- I know you are all waiting with bated breath.
