Thanksgiving 2011
Thanksgiving 2011, a set on Flickr.
So Carol and I intercepted the family in Massanutten Virginia. Steven and McKenna drove down from Baltimore and Jay + the Parents flew in to Washington D.C. and drove over.
We had a great time at a huge house just outside of Shenandoah National Park.
We sang karaoke, I made a turkey or two, we ate said turkeys, we did yoga, we hiked and then we drove home.
A great time was had by all.
Carnitas Tacos
SO this happened. It makes me hungry just looking at it. Carnitas tack with a GIANT chunk of pork in the crock pot. I may still be salivating.
Dan comes to Gadsden
Dan comes to Gadsden, a set on Flickr.
So poet extrordinare Dan Donaghy came to Gadsden. He had some workshops at local schools, had a great reading at the Gadsden Public library and then we went and drank some Yuengling. Here is the evidence of the beer drinking. (Apparently where lives in Connecticut Yuengling is unavailable and being from Philadelphia it is his preferred lager so of course we had to oblige at the Blacktone. )
Oh yeah and the one and only Jeremy Jackson was there playing.
Pho much phun in Birmingham
Pho much phun in Birmingham, a set on Flickr.
So C and I were in Birmingham running some fun errands. We went down in the morning but I knew it was going to be lunch time before we could get back to Gadsden so I urbanspooned ( yup I just turned into a verb) Gluten Free – friendly food joints near our route. We had such good luck using this method for finding gluten free dining in Chattanooga that I wasn’t surprised at how it went. We found a nice little noodle shop off of Green Springs Highway. Pho Que Huong Vietnamese
We had a great little date. Plenty of gluten free food and the pho really hit the spot on a cool blustery day. They were out of the item that I ordered but I punted on the fly and ordered a chicken breast pho noodle bowl while C had the Beef version. Both broths were very good and the rice noodles tasty. We also ordered summer rolls, which I normally thin of as spring rolls, but they were nice and tasty as well. The food wasn’t quite as good as our other noodle place Saigon Noodle House but I wasn’t up for the drive over to Hoover.
All in all a killer day with some tasty noodles.
Bamacross Brookside #4
On Sunday we made the trip down to Brookside Alabama for the 4th race of the Bamacross season. Lest you think that Brent would let the racers race the same course there were some surprises in store. ( You can see the other Brookside races and )
A giant sandpit runups galore and what sounds like just about the hardest course possible. Needless to say it made for some great photos. Without any further ado, here are the frames.

2011 Bamacross #3 Tuscaloosa
So I went down to Tuscaloosa and Munny Sokol park for the third BamaCross race of the season. I shot a bunch of photos and you can see em here. Gosh I have fun at cyclocross even if I cant ride.
