So I had a two race weekend.

First race was Saturday in Grant. The Ronde Van Grant B race. I managed to get dropped from the lead 4 on the Cat 3 climb. I tried to chase back on, got caught by two other chasers, but worked too hard and came off the chase. Rode solo for a while, got caught again, but managed to get away on the climb and stay away for 7th.

On Sunday I did the second Sumatanga Training race. I got to race with a bunch of friends. I moved up to the B race as opposed to the C race this week. It was a lot more exciting as the field was probably over 40 guys. Looking at my files I didn’t put out nearly as much power except for a few isolated sections on the front, chasing back down after taking corners too slowly and chasing down an attack or two by GSMR guys. Frankly, I think the race could have been a little harder ( but I’m glad it wasn’t.)

I was in OK position coming into the sprint but I just didn’t have the kick to move up more than a few places. I saw the winner go, and he just went. It wasn’t really scored precisely but I counted and I think I pulled off 10th.

takeaways, get a standard crank, do some more training. WHen’s the next race . . .

Back Forty Beer Co. – New Packaging

The guys over at Back Forty Beer Co. – Gadsden’s newish Craft Brewery went through a redesign of their packaging.
The are launching two new beers, Freckle Belly IPA and Kudzu Porter so they went ahead and redesigned the whole shootin’ match.

Mother Cartons, labels, six packs.

They needed some photos so I stopped by after work and shot some photos for them.
I’m reasonably pleased with the photos but I don’t love the highlights. They are servicable, but I’m going to continue to work with them until we get soem that I love.

It’s been a while since I have shot product, but I really like the technical aspect of it. I could imagine a really fun job shooting bike and beer product photos, letting my imagination run wild and getting to play with some of my favorite toys.
